The Karcher FC5 is both a mop and a vacuum in one. It is a lightweight, hard floor cleaner that simultaneously vacuums up all the crumbs off your floor and cleans the muddy footprints and spillages also. The machine sucks up debris before washing the floor, meaning it is less time consuming and ensures a more efficient clean that’s dry in less than two minutes; meaning you don’t have to worry about any slips or falls due to a wet floor. It saves the hassle of going over a floor twice (once with a mop and once with a vacuum), making sure you have time to run other errands and complete prioritised projects in your home. For a feeling of freshness with your Karcher FC5, just simply use the freshly scented detergent offered by Karcher. These floor cleaning detergents also accommodate different floor types, ensuring there is no damage to your floors when washing. When the rollers of your FC5 get dirty, all you have to do is pop them in the washing machine ready for the next time you use your machine.
The Karcher FC5 is a trusted machine, not just through the personal opinion of our customers, but it has also been recognised by many home and cleaning magazines, websites and bloggers. With this popular machine, there are also popular frequently asked questions, and these will be answered below in hope that they will resolve any of your queries about the machine:
1. What is the difference in the yellow rollers and the grey rollers?
The truth is- there is no difference! A fun tip would be to use the different colours as a guide on which room you clean, for example, the yellow for the kitchen and the grey for the bathroom.
2. What type of floor can I use the FC5 on?
Unlike mopping, the FC5 uses a minimal amount of moisture which eliminates pooling where water can migrate under flooring. It is designed for use on hard floor surfaces such as; natural hard woods, tiles, stone (including travertine), vinyl/PVC including Moduleo®, linoleum and Aquaguard™. However, in some cases, it may be useful to check with your floor manufacturer to understand limitations.
3. Can the FC5 clean carpets?
No, this machine is for hard floor cleaning only.
4. How often do the rollers on my FC5 need replaced?
The rollers are designed for extended use and cleaning but the actual life will depend on the floor type and how frequently they are used. Coarse, natural stone will wear the rollers faster than if on a polished tile/hard floor. Daily use will wear the rollers faster than if used once a week.
5. How do I clean my FC5 rollers?
A quick way to do this would be placing them in the washing machine or washing them by hand, however never with the use of bleach.
6. Why do the rollers sometimes fall off my machine when I am using it?
This is simply because the machine hasn’t been primed and prepared correctly. Before use, the rollers of the FC5 should be wet. Let the rollers spin in the docking station with water for a few seconds, then check to make sure there’s enough liquid in the clean water tank to keep the rollers moist while cleaning.
7. Why is my FC5 not dispensing liquid on the rollers while in use?
Firstly, prime your FC5 by placing in the docking station and adding water. Turn on the FC5 and let it run for 1-2 minutes or until the water is gone. If the machine has already been primed and there is still a problem, check to ensure the nozzle cover is fully sealed and the grey nozzle release button is fully raised. When the nozzle release button is pressed down, the flow of detergent to the rollers is stopped.
8. How do you empty the dirty water tank?
To empty the dirty water tank at the back of the FC5, simply squeeze the top and pull out. The filter screen at the top will collect the larger debris and can be removed and cleaned separately.
9. How do I clean the FC5 machine?
Clean the exterior of your machine by simply wiping it with a damp cloth. The inside of the machine has a self-rinsing function; simply place the FC5 in the docking station with fresh water and turn the machine on. The fresh water will be pulled through the system which will flush any dirty water/debris, and this will deposit in the dirty water tank.
10. How much detergent should I use with the FC5?
For the included sample bottles of detergent, use around 1/3 to 1/2 of the sample bottle per tank of fresh water (50ml tank). For the 16.9oz bottles of Karcher detergents, use 1/4 to 1/2 capful per 50ml tank of fresh water. To avoid foaming occurring, fill the tank with fresh water first.
The Karcher FC5 comes with accessories; 2 microfibre rollers, cleaning and parking station and 30ml multi-purpose floor cleaner and these are the perfect items to start your experience with the FC5.
