Are you aware of how often you should be changing your Adflo PAPR parts?

Properly maintaining, your Adflo PAPR system can have a number of benefits from both a productivity and safety perspective. Below, we take a look at each key consumable and the best time to replace it to ensure you receive your desired level of protection.

Please note: the change frequencies mentioned below are based on welders who undergo a minimum of 4 hours usage per day and may vary depending on individual circumstances and specific applications.

Particle filter
It is vital that your Particle Filter is replaced regularly as it is the main component and last line of defence within the Adflo system which effectively filtrates particulates before the air reaches the user.  In a normal working environment with regular usage, we would recommend changing the Particle Filter every week.

Pre-filter

The Pre-Filter is the first line of defence against hazardous gases and is effective in helping to preserve the life of your Particle Filter.  Regular replacement of the Pre-Filter will reduce the workload of the Particle Filter, saving you money while also increasing the run-time of the Adflo battery.  If your Adflo system is used regularly, we recommend that the Pre-Filter is replaced once to twice a week (or at the same time as your Particle Filter is replaced).

It is important to note that you should NEVER try to manually clean your Pre-Filter even when there are clear signs of dirt/debris on it.  Using methods such as air blasting will quickly degrade the effectiveness of the Pre-Filter resulting in damage to the material and allowing harmful particles to filter through.

Gas filter
The rate at which you should replace your gas filter will be dictated by the regulations at your workplace. Please note that smell and taste are not recommended as a measure of change.

Spark arrestor
The Spark Arrestor is an important component within the Adflo sytem, as it prevents the emission of flammable debris from filtering through to the Pre-Filter (and possibly igniting it).  Unlike other components, the Spark Arrestor will not require regular replacement unless it is clearly damaged.  From time-to-time Spark Arrestors will require cleaning and this can be done by running slow flowing water through the gauze to remove any debris which may be present.

Breathing tube
Your breathing hose should be substituted as soon as it becomes damaged or starts leaking air. Its durability can be improved via the use of a breathing tube cover, or alternatively you can invest in a heavy-duty rubber breathing tube.

Particle filter It is vital that your Particle Filter is replaced regularly as it is the main component and last line of defence within the Adflo system which effectively filtrates particulates before the air reaches the user. You should replace your particle filter when filter indicator becomes red. Otherwise, replace whenever the battery operating time becomes too short, or when “fully loaded” filter triggers low airflow alarm.  It is strongly advised that you should replace your Particle Filter at least once a month  View Product
